New in town?  The Columbia Newcomers Club welcomes you with monthly luncheons and special interest groups.  Columbia Newcomers Club provides an immediate opportunity for members to become acquainted with others in the community.  An atmosphere of friendliness, good-will, and helpful information for members in the community is a priority. The Columbia Newcomers Club is nonpartisan and nonsectarian and sponsors no legislative activities.  There are a wide variety of activities each month which provides a wonderful opportunity to meet new people as well as expand your knowledge of the community.   If you would like to have someone call you with more information or would like to have a complimentary copy of our monthly newsletter emailed to you, please click on our email address and drop us a request.   First time guests may attend three functions, including luncheons, before joining.  You may continue your membership by paying annual dues of $15.00 per year.

Luncheons

Come have lunch with us.  Reservations are not required. Columbia Newcomers holds its monthly meeting usually at 11:30 am on the second Thursday of the month at a local restaurant.  Enjoy meeting new friends and hearing a varied program with a different speaker featured each month.

The next Monthly Meeting will be on July 10, 2008 at Les Bourgeois Vineyards & Blufftop Winery & Restaurant, 12847 W. Hwy BB, Rocheport, MO. There will be no program, just enjoy the view.

Movie Group

The Movie Group meets on the first Wednesday of the month in the early afternoon at a local theatre and either goes to lunch before the movie or after the movie goes out for dessert.

Antiques

The Antiquing Group carpools to antique shops and historic sites statewide on the fourth Thursday of the month.  Activities center around nearby shops during the winter months.

Book Club PM

The Book Club PM meets at a member’s home on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm.  A different book is discussed each month.

Book Club AM

The Book Club AM meets at It's A Grind Coffee House, 4603 John Gary Drive, on the fourth Monday of the month at 9:30 am.  A different book is discussed each month.

Needle Talk

The Needle Talk Group meets at 9:30 am on the first Tuesday of the month at It's A grind Coffee House, 4603 John Garry Drive.  Bring your needle project and share ideas, techniques and conversation with others.

Bridge

There are three Bridge Groups to choose from. One meets at 10:00 am on the first and third Monday of the month.  Another group meets at 1:00 pm on the first and third Thursday of the month. The third group meets at 1:00 pm on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

Bunco

Bunco is a dice game requiring 12 players.  No playing experience is necessary.  The Bunco Group meets at a member's house on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm.

Canasta

Canasta is a card game using 2 decks of cards for 8 or 12 players.  There are three Canasta Groups to choose from.  One group meets at a member's house on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 pm.  The second group meets at a member's home on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm. The third group meets at a member’s home on the third Monday of the month at 12:00 noon.

Dining Out

The Dining Out Group meets once a month for dinner at a local restaurant.

Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 11:30 am am at a local restaurant.

Scrabble

The Scrabble Group meets on the last Tuesday of the month at 1:00 pm at a member's home for games and conversation.

Walking Group

The Walking Group walks every Tuesday at 8:00 am, meeting at the lower parking lot off Forum Blvd. and walking for an hour on the MKT Trail.

Coffee

The club hosts a Coffee each month on the third Thursday each month at 10:00 am at a local coffee spot.  This is a wonderful opportunity for new and prospective members to learn more about the club.

The next Coffee will be held on July 17, 2008 at the new Uprise Bakery, 10 Hitt Street. Location is adjacent to the Presbyterian Church, near the Ragtag Cinema.  Parking garage just across the street.

Hiking

The Hiking Group meets every third Friday.

Golf

The Golf Group meets every second and fourth Monday.

Crafts

The Craft Group meets every second Monday.

Guys & Dolls Happy Hour

The Guys & Dolls Happy Hour Group meets every first Thursday.
